About Mid Beach
Mid Beach is the Collins Avenue oceanfront, between the Atlantic and Indian Creek. Miami Beach designated the Collins Waterfront district here by ordinance in January 2001, from 22nd to 44th Street, and the National Register listed it in December 2011; the Morris Lapidus and Mid-20th Century district covers the blocks above 44th Street, designated in October 2009. The Bath Club at 5937 Collins opened in 1927 and became a local historic site in 1999. Lapidus built the Fontainebleau in 1954. The Edition at 2901 Collins is a renovation of Melvin Grossman's Seville Hotel of 1955, and the Perigon at 5333 Collins, designed by OMA, topped out in March 2026. Faena House, by Foster and Partners, stands between them.
