About South Asheville
South Asheville is the corridor running south from the city along Hendersonville Road and Interstate 26, and the name is a working one rather than an adopted district. It takes in Arden and Skyland, both unincorporated communities rather than towns. The Blue Ridge Parkway crosses the corridor at Hendersonville Road, milepost 388.8, and again at Brevard Road. Asheville Regional Airport sits at the southern end, inside a detached piece of the city limits, and has served the region since 1961.
