About Southwest Ranches
Southwest Ranches is a town of about 7,600 residents on 13 square miles of southwest Broward County, formed in 2000 when residents voted to incorporate rather than be annexed by Pembroke Pines. Its motto is "Preserving Our Rural Lifestyle," and town law bars homes on lots under an acre and keeps most streets without streetlights or sidewalks. The town is horse country, with estate parcels often of two to ten acres, and its median owner-occupied value is about $906,500 by the Census. Its neighborhoods include Sunshine Ranches, Rolling Oaks, Country Estates, Green Meadow, Ivanhoe Estates and Sterling Ranch Estates. About 150 acres of town parks include Sunshine Ranches Equestrian Park, Rolling Oaks Passive Park and its barn, the Country Estates Fishing Hole and the Southwest Meadows Sanctuary. Broward County Public Schools serves the town from schools in neighboring cities, and Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High, a Catholic school founded in 1998, is on South Flamingo Road. I-75, I-595 and US 27 are close by, with Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International about 15 minutes away. We list the town's ranches and estates and follow what sells.
