Riviera Beach

A city in two halves, the mainland and most of Singer Island

About Riviera Beach

Riviera Beach began as Oak Lawn and was renamed Riviera in 1893 by Judge Allen Heyser. It incorporated as a town in September 1922, added Beach to the name in the early 1940s and became a city in 1959. The Intracoastal splits it in two, the mainland on one side and most of Singer Island on the other. The Port of Palm Beach, created by the Legislature in 1915, works from 165 acres here as an independent taxing district covering roughly half the county. Peanut Island, dredge spoil from cutting the inlet in 1918, sits out in the channel.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 16, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
