Palm Beach Gardens

A city John D. MacArthur announced in 1959, built around PGA National

About Palm Beach Gardens

John D. MacArthur announced Palm Beach Gardens on 20 March 1959, proposing four thousand acres of new town, and it incorporated that June before much of it existed. He wanted to call it Palm Beach City, and the Legislature refused. He gave more than $2 million to bring the PGA of America here, and the association moved into a clubhouse in 1965, left after a falling out in 1972, and came back to PGA National, where its headquarters opened in 1981. It stayed until the move to Texas in 2022. The city now covers close to sixty square miles.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 16, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
