About Belle Meade

Belle Meade was platted on 16 September 1925 by the Belle Meade Land Company, on ground that had been mangrove and prairie between the Little River and Biscayne Bay. Its 136 acres run from Biscayne Boulevard east to the water, with NE 72nd Terrace at the southern edge. The same 1925 layout cut a hundred-foot canal through a hammock to make Belle Meade Island, reached by two bridges. The houses came in three waves: Mediterranean Revival and early Art Deco to 1933, then a Caribbean and Bermudian boom style, then split-levels and Miami Modern into the 1960s.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 4, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
