Miami Shores

A 1920s Shoreland Company development on Biscayne Bay

About Miami Shores

Miami Shores was laid out in 1924 and 1925 by the Shoreland Company, which took about 2,800 acres and sold it as America's Mediterranean, promising nine thousand building sites, five and a half miles of bay frontage and a causeway to Miami Beach that was never built. The 1926 hurricane finished the company, which went bankrupt the following July, and Bessemer Properties bought what was left in 1928. The village incorporated on 2 January 1932. Its golf course opened in December 1939 to a design by Red Lawrence and Louis Wilson, built in part with federal relief labor.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 10, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
