About Allison Island

Allison Island sits in the Indian Creek waterway off 63rd Street, named for James Allison, the industrialist who helped found the Indianapolis 500, on land Carl Fisher donated. Allison Hospital opened on the southern 8.5 acres on 1 January 1926, a three-story Spanish-style building by architect August Geiger. It ran as St. Francis Hospital from 1929 until 1992 and was later demolished. Craig Robins redeveloped that ground as Aqua, master-planned by Duany Plater-Zyberk, with 46 townhouses and three mid-rise condominium buildings by a roster of separate architects. The northern half of the island remains single-family waterfront.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of July 21, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
