Port Everglades

The deepwater port of 1928, most of its upland inside Hollywood

About Port Everglades

Port Everglades opened on 22 February 1928 as Bay Mabel Harbor, the deepwater port Joseph Young wanted after being stranded in Lake Mabel. It covers 2,190 acres, about 1,742 of them upland, and spreads across four jurisdictions: Hollywood, which holds the largest share, along with Fort Lauderdale, Dania Beach and unincorporated Broward County. Since 1994 it has been run as an enterprise fund of Broward County rather than by a separate authority, and it leases its berths and yards to private operators rather than working them itself. Cruise terminals, containers and petroleum all move through it.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of July 10, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
