About Miracle Mile and Downtown
Downtown Coral Gables centers on Miracle Mile, the half-mile of Coral Way between Le Jeune Road and Douglas Road, which took that name in a 1955 rebranding and was rebuilt in a twenty-one million dollar Cooper Robertson streetscape from 2016. Giralda Avenue beside it reopened as a pedestrian plaza in 2017. The Coral Gables Museum occupies the old police and fire station of 1939, a Phineas Paist building that joined the National Register in 1984.
