Tequesta

A village on the Loxahatchee River, built around its 1957 country club

About Tequesta

Tequesta was built around its country club, which Charles Martyn started in 1955 on 350 acres with a Dick Wilson course that opened in December 1957, the same year the village incorporated. The name is borrowed rather than local. Martyn knew the Tequesta people had lived far to the south, around Biscayne Bay, and that the group here was the Jeaga, but he preferred the sound of it. The village runs from the northwest fork of the Loxahatchee River east to the ocean, and parts of it lie on Jupiter Island across the Martin County line.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 15, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
