Lighthouse Point

A canal city on the Intracoastal, named for a light in the next town

About Lighthouse Point

Lighthouse Point is named for a lighthouse that stands in another town. The Hillsboro Inlet light is across the Intracoastal Waterway in Hillsboro Beach, and the city itself has no ocean frontage at all, ending at the waterway's western bank. Almost all of it is built on canals cut through the 1950s and 1960s, which is what puts water behind so many of its streets and gives it a short run out to the inlet. It incorporated as a town in 1956 and as a city the following year. Cap's Place, a 1928 speakeasy on an island reached by boat, is its National Register listing.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 15, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
