Lantana

A small city on the Intracoastal, named for the shrub along its shore

About Lantana

Lantana was named for the wild shrub growing along the shore, first as Lantana Point, the post office M. B. Lyman opened after homesteading here in the 1880s. The town incorporated on 20 July 1921 with twenty-two voters and one square mile, and now covers a little over two, including the northern part of Hypoluxo Island. A wooden bridge first reached the barrier island in 1925, a concrete drawbridge replaced it in 1950, and the present bascule span opened in 2013. The National Enquirer worked from an office here from 1971 until the turn of the century.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 16, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
