Lake Worth Beach

The city south of West Palm Beach on the Intracoastal

About Lake Worth Beach

The city was platted in 1911 and 1912 under the name Lucerne by the Palm Beach Farms Company, which sold farm acreage west of town and gave each buyer a twenty-five-foot lot in the townsite. That scheme laid out some seven thousand narrow parcels, which is why the blocks are still so finely grained. It incorporated as a town on 14 June 1913 and as a city in 1925, and took its present name by referendum in March 2019. Six local historic districts cover much of it, three of them also on the National Register. The Casino building on the ocean opened in 1922.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 16, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
