Lake Park

An Olmsted-planned town founded in the 1920s as Kelsey City

About Lake Park

Lake Park was founded as Kelsey City by Harry Seymour Kelsey, a Boston restaurant man who bought 30,000 acres north of West Palm Beach and eventually held well over a hundred thousand. He had the Olmsted Brothers and the planner John Nolan lay the town out, and it was platted around 1921 and incorporated in 1923. The 1928 hurricane and the land bust ruined Kelsey, and in 1939 the garden club petitioned the state to rename the place Lake Park. The 1920s city hall on Park Avenue, by Bruce Kitchell, joined the National Register in 1981.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 16, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
