Jupiter

The northernmost town in Palm Beach County, at the inlet and its lighthouse

About Jupiter

Jupiter is the northernmost town in Palm Beach County, and its name is a cartographer's mistake. The Spanish recorded the local Jobe people, a group of the Jeaga; a mapmaker read Jobe as Jove, and later hands turned that into Jupiter. The inlet lighthouse was first lit on 10 July 1860, designed under George Meade and drawn by John W. Nystrem, and listed on the National Register in 1973. Congress made its grounds an Outstanding Natural Area in 2008. No zoning district in the town permits a tower. Abacoa, begun in the 1990s, covers roughly two thousand acres.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 18, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
