About Galt Mile

Arthur T. Galt, a Chicago lawyer, bought some eight thousand acres here in 1913 and held the land for forty years. In 1953 Coral Ridge Properties bought it for about 19.4 million dollars, then reported as the largest land deal recorded in Florida. The mile of Galt Ocean Drive that Galt had kept for himself filled with towers over the following decade, beginning with Ocean Manor in 1953 and the Galt Ocean Mile Hotel in 1957. The Galt Mile Community Association now counts thirty-seven member condominium associations along the strip.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of September 19, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
