Tahiti Beach

The 1926 gondola beach club, now a gated island of under thirty homes

About Tahiti Beach

Tahiti Beach is a gated island of fewer than thirty houses at the mouth of the Coral Gables Waterway, and its name is older than the houses. From February 1926 guests at the Biltmore were carried here by gondola to a private playground of thatched huts and a clubhouse, with attendants in Tahitian dress. The September 1926 storm destroyed most of it and the bust prevented rebuilding. A smaller public beach with concession stands followed, and in 1974 the ground was bought for private housing.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of the latest data update. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
