About Biltmore & Country Club
These are the blocks around the Biltmore Hotel, which opened at 1200 Anastasia Avenue in January 1926 to a Schultze and Weaver design, its tower rising 315 feet over a property of just under twenty acres. The National Register listed it in 1972 and it became a National Historic Landmark in 1996. The golf course opened days before the hotel, on 2 January 1926, laid out by Donald Ross, and Brian Silva restored the 1925 routing in 2007. Coral Gables Congregational Church, the city's first church, stands opposite it, finished in 1923 to designs by Richard Kiehnel.
