Cooper City

Cooper City real estate, every home, every condo and every sale, by Mark Zilbert.

About Cooper City

Cooper City has about 34,400 residents on eight square miles in the southwest of Broward County, a city founded by Morris Cooper, a New Jersey shirt maker who invested in an orange grove and the cattle land around it. The Florida Legislature incorporated it by special act in 1959, when it had 85 residents, and its motto is "Someplace Special." It is a city of single-family neighborhoods, among them Embassy Lakes, Rock Creek and Country Glen, and owner-occupied houses carry a median Census value of about $620,900. Monterra, a gated community, was built on the 530 acres of the Waldrep Dairy, which ran from 1928 to 2005, with sections by Lennar and Minto. Brian Piccolo Park covers 175 acres, with a velodrome and two cricket fields that hosted a match between the United States and Canada in 2004. Broward County Public Schools runs Cooper City High, and private schools include Potential Christian Academy and First Baptist Academy. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International is about nine and a half miles from the city, Miami International about 20. We track Cooper City's neighborhoods and their sales.

Averages are weighted as total dollars over total square feet. We calculate averages based on closed sales in the MLS for the past 12 months, as of October 28, 2026. Averages are based on properties that are listed or sold for $350,000 and greater. Additional reports at all price points are available here. Price-per-square-foot figures are rounded to the nearest dollar, up or down. Where fewer than 5 closed sales exist in the window, we report the count rather than an average.
