These cities sit on the mainland and stretch from the shores of Biscayne Bay inland to the Florida Everglades.  The list below shows mostly Bayfront cities.  Starting from the north end of Dade county and moving south we have:

• Aventura - an oasis of homes, luxury high-rise condominiums and large townhomes wrapped around the exclusive Turnberry County Club and golf course.  Also home to the elegant Aventura Mall.
• North Miami Beach - a warm community of mostly single family homes at moderate prices.  Despite its name, the city is located on the mainland and not on Miami Beach.
• Sans Souci - a community of bayfront condos and homes directly across the causeway from Bal Harbour.
• Miami Shores - mostly residential homes set in beautifully-manicured neighborhoods on both sides of Biscayne Blvd.  This is one of my favorite neighborhoods in northern Dade County.
• Morningside - mostly single family homes in gated communities on the East side of Biscayne Blvd.
• Bayside - mostly single family homes in gated communities on the East side of Biscayne Blvd.
• Brickell Key - this is a small island (key) in the downtown of Miami and connected by a very short bridge.  Mostly luxury condos and also the home of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
• Downtown (Brickell) - Urban living at its best, with a mixture of bay front luxury condos and single family homes.
• Downtown (River Walk) - loft-style condos and trendy shops and restaurants are appearing along the Miami river, and some are speculating that this may become as popular as San Antonio's Riverwalk.
• Coconut Grove - a trendy bayfront community offering a mixture of high rise condos and single family homes.
• Coral Gables - if Miami were to have a "Beverly Hills" this would be it.  Mostly mansion-style residential homes and townhomes.  Very few rise buildings allowed.
